1. Pieterpad

Ever heard of the Pieterpad? The Pieterpad runs from Pieterburen in North Groningen to the Sint-Pietersberg in South Limburg and is therefore the longest continuous walking route in the Netherlands. The walking route is very popular with hikers and during the trip you walk through beautiful nature reserves and along interesting sights.

2. Gees Forestry

 

Gees Forestry is a wonderful place to walk and cycle. Fens and heathlands break the pattern of the deciduous trees. On the east side of the forestry you have a beautiful view over the lower open grasslands. The quiet oasis is about 45 minutes by bike from Coevorden and is definitely worth a visit in our opinion!

3. Day trip to Germany

 

Because Coevorden is located a few kilometers away from Germany, you can of course also spend a nice day in Germany.

Coevorden is located just under an hour's drive from German cities such as Meppen and Lingen. You can also use the many cycle routes through the German countryside.

4. Wildlands

 

Discover new worlds, come face to face with wild animals, go on a truck safari, an arctic 4D ride and an exciting jungle boat trip.

Hotel Talens is only a 15-minute drive from Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen.

6. Slagharen

 

Travel from the Wild West to Mexico, celebrate carnival in old, rhythmic New Orleans and go in search of gold in Yellowstone. Slagharen is only ten minutes from Coevorden.

7. Municipal Museum Coevorden

 

Coevorden has a fascinating history full of war, destruction and an eternal struggle for power.

The Stedelijk Museum Coevorden, located in the Arsenaal, takes the visitor on a journey of discovery through the story of Coevorden from the first viscount to the present day. With a beautiful permanent collection, changing exhibitions and various children's activities, a visit to the Stedelijk Museum is a pleasure for young and old.

8. Peat park Barger-Compascuum

 

In the Veenpark in Barger-Compascuum, near Emmen, Drenthe peat history comes to life. You drive and sail through nostalgic villages and a natural raised bog area with real peat excavation.

The Veenpark is only a half hour drive from Coevorden and is worth a visit for enthusiasts.

9. Black Market Slagharen

 

The Slagharen Black Market has been around for more than 15 years and is a household name in the east of the Netherlands.

Every Saturday and every second and last Sunday of the month you will find a cozy Black Market in Slagharen with an indoor and outdoor market. With more than 150 stalls you can go to the braderie for a diverse assortment. Something for everyone.

12. Ermerstrand

 

Enjoy a beautiful beach in Drenthe? You can at the Ermerstrand!

This is a nature and recreation area on the edge of Erm, only a fifteen minute drive from Coevorden. Ermerstrand is known for its beautiful beach, the various islands and extensive sunbathing areas. There is plenty to do for young and old. Ermerstrand offers many different activities such as water skiing, paintball and beach volleyball. You will also find a playground next to the beach that is built like a pirate ship.
